worship at BOSS…

So, this past Sunday, I had the opportunity to lead worship at Bayside of South Sacramento (BOSS).  It was cool.  It is the most diverse church service I’ve every attended.  It was my final Sunday service as a pastor at GrX.  Kind of anti-climactic since it wasn’t at GrX, but inspirational because I was able to experience incredible diversity in the church.

One realization from the experience is that I am more passionate about worshiping God and leading people into worship than music.   I’ve always wrestled with my musicianship and felt like I needed to break through or I needed to love it more, or I needed to be disciplined about my development of it.  I realize, however, that at my core, I’m more concerned with leading people into the presence of God.  This is a great revelation because it in some ways frees me of my constant concern with musicality and development of an artistic skill.  Don’t get me wrong, I think I’m still going to play music, sing, and even write.  I just don’t think it’ll consume my heart and mind…

Next stop… Hawaii…:)
